There are many different types of flying pests that can invade your yard, including carpenter bees, hornets, paper wasps, and more. Some are aggressive and should be removed by professionals as soon as possible, while others are docile and prefer to mind their own business. Here are the most common ones found in the Chenoa area and their levels of aggression.

• Honeybee: Honeybees are  not innately aggressive and are far more interested in making honey than engaging with humans or other creatures. While they lack a sense of general aggression, they will attack if provoked – which usually occurs when they feel their home or colony members are threatened. Luckily, their attacks aren’t as aggressive as those of wasps because their stingers are barbed meaning they can only sting once. 
• Bumblebees: These fat, furry guys are typically considered the cutest, as well as friendliest bees. During flight, they seem to move almost drunkenly through the air and will allow their legs to hang down lazily. Bumblebees are very docile creatures and, while they have the ability to sting, they very rarely become aggressive and attack. They do possess the ability to sting multiple times however, this only occurs when they feel threatened.
• Paper Wasps: Unlike honeybees, wasps can sting you multiple times because they do not loose their stingers.  Wasps can become extremely aggressive and will attack with little provocation. 
• Hornets: Hornets aren’t outright aggressive, but they can become incredibly vindictive, stinging and biting if they feel at all threatened. Their attacks are vicious and rather unrelenting. There are often about 300 workers living in a hornet colony which accounts for how dangerous it is to approach a hornet nest.
• Yellow Jackets: Yellow jackets may actually be the most aggressive stingers on this list. They are one of the most common culprits when it comes to being stung in your own backyard as they are native to North America. When they attack, yellow jackets tend to sting repeatedly with their venomous stingers, and will even bite their victims. Their aggression tends to spike in the months of Autumn and reports of stings increase at this time.
